KAB130 A3 week 13 final work (photoshopped and processed)
The aim is to create something that connects to the ideas of modern sculpture, with reference to early twentieth-century artists like Constantin Brâncuși but with a focus on the materiality of the work. Thus, the display is next to Bird in Space in a very ‘white cube’ environment, or the absence of any location. The ‘site’ isn’t considered in these works, only the work itself, It’s concepts and material. Image source: Brancusi, C. (n.d.). Bird in Space. The Solomon R. Guggenh

KAB130 A3 week 13 Eco materiality's wider sphere
This slide considers the wider implication of making art by weighing the concept, illustrated on the paper against the materials used in it's production. the point is that even though the material used in the art object could be recycled, there is a lot of resources involved that isn't always considered.

Material: basic fibreboard (MDF) 9mm thickness. if we don't have 9mm, anything is fine, as long as the 'sides' dimensions are adapted accordingly. I'm building a 'box' or plinth, the dimensions reads: Top (or bottom): 300mm*300mm I need 1 Front and back: 700mm hight * 300mm wide * 9mm thick - I need 2 Sides: 700mm hight * 282mm wide * 9mm thick - I need 2 inside square supports: 700 hight * 20mm wide * 20mm thick. - I need 4

KAB130 A3 week 9 task 1 workshop project progress
The material VS Conceptual canandrum After doing research on the material of the skateboard (see previous blog post) it was actually rather challenging to go on with the project in a way that would still speak of the material while trying to illustrate the conceptual 'picture' I was aiming to paint. It was supposed to speak of balance and movement, which is all well and good, but I had a change of mind relating to how the final product should look as I was increasingly starti

KAB130 Week 6 Task 1 final work Studio The Art of Materials
Final work: using the canvas wedges/keys and Lace in the effort to Transform/downcycle these 'useful' materials and combine them in such a way that their original purpose is impossible while maintaining the 'elements' of these materials. We want emphasis on lace as a fabric used in covering things for decoration and canvas wedges that hold structure. While highlighting these 'elements' of the objects used, it is showed in a way that can't be used for It's original purpose.
